Description of Role
 
ANT Software Limited is the market-leading provider of open standards based embedded software solutions and services for the broadband-based digital television device market. As a Undergraduate Software Engineer you will be working with team of extremely talented and approachable engineers developing innovative software for several of the largest and most successful technology companies in the world. ANT's software is deployed globally and used every day by millions of people. You will be expected to take a keen interest in the latest digital media gadgets, keep abreast of the latest interactive television market developments and to help shape the future direction of our software products.
 
This is a unique opportunity to work as an Undergraduate Software Engineer in a dynamic team, make a difference and directly contribute to the growth of the company.
 
Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability
  • Contribute to the overall product specification and architectural design.
  • Learn and keep abreast of the latest digital media technology, web standards and technologies.
  • Integrate software with cutting-edge consumer products such as digital television set-top boxes, multi-function printers, communications devices and personal entertainment products.
  • Design, develop, test, debug and maintain software, to company standards and process, in a range of programming language and environments ensuring the code is portable, robust, efficient and maintainable.
  • Take part in end user trials using the latest digital entertainment and communications technology installed in your own home.
Requirements
 
Qualifications:
  • Proven ability, relevant experience and flexibility are more important than formal qualifications.
Essential Requirements:
  • Studying for B.Sc or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
Desirable skills/experience:
  • Proven experience of writing robust, efficient, portable, maintainable code in C.
  • Experience of writing code for devices with limited resources e.g. memory and CPU.
  • Familiarity with some of the following: DOM, CSS, HTML, XML, Web services (e.g. SOAP, AJAX), Web 2.0.
  • Embedded Linux or other embedded OS.
  • JavaScript or similar language
  • Python, Perforce, JIRA

  • Desire to learn and keep abreast of latest web and IPTV technology.
  • Flexible and responsive to business needs.
  • A high level of integrity and intellect, though able to adopt a relaxed and easy going stance with peers and team.
