Professional Services Engineer

Description of role

ANT is seeking to hire a Professional Services Engineer. You will work alongside other members of the Professional Services team to integrate ANT’s core product offerings onto a range of embedded devices as well as providing customisations and support as required. You will have responsibility for delivering small projects, but will also be working closely with the rest of the ANT team on larger projects. This will be a customer-facing role, so good communication skills are important as you will be upholding ANT’s position as a key partner in the success of our customers.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability

• Performing the integration of ANT software solutions into embedded platforms and supporting the product through to deployment

• Customising ANT core software as required, including requirements capture, design and implementation

• Working closely with the other teams within ANT as required to support project activities

• Maintaining contact with customers by email and conference call

• Point of contact for sales team to support the estimation and bidding process

• Performing 2nd and 3rd line investigation of issues raised by customers

• Some travel to customer sites will be required

Key skills for the position...

Excellent technical background, with some or all of the following:

• At least eighteen months' experience of commercial embedded software development, producing software which is portable, robust and maintainable

• Proven experience of coding in the C programming language

• Experience with set-top box devices or embedded platforms in the TV industry

• Experience of developing for Linux and embedded Operating Systems

• Knowledge of internet technologies (HTML, Javasript, CSS, HTTP, etc)

• Knowledge of video standards and streaming technologies (DVB, RTSP, etc)

• Organised and proactive with a good eye for detail and good at following through tasks to completion

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills - must be able to communicate with customers and engineers with clarity and technical competence

• Self-motivated, resourceful and can show initiative

• Flexible and responsive to business needs

• Must enjoy the challenge of interacting with customers

• Willingness to travel

• Educated to University degree level – desirable but not essential
