ANT Limited to Demonstrate its Industry Leading Technology for Interactive TV and Multimedia Broadcasting at IBC

Showcasing products from Quiero TV, Pace Micro Technology, Alba, IBM, Sagem, Interisa, LSI Logic, Wind River Systems and Amino Communications

Cambridge, 28 August, 2001

ANT Limited, a leading developer of Internet appliance software, will demonstrate at this year's International Broadcasting Convention (14-18 Sept) in Amsterdam how its technology is enabling broadcasters to unite the Internet with interactive content and services. ANT's software enables Internet browsing and email communication from digital set top boxes (STB) and interactive televisions, DVD players, PDAs and other home entertainment devices.

ANT Fresco™ is fast becoming the browser of choice for the industry's leading technology companies because it allows them to retain their own choice of underlying hardware and operating system. ANT's unique three-layer software architecture also allows broadcasters and service providers to quickly and easily create their own branded user interface for their service.

ANT demonstrations at IBC will include:
Quiero TV's STB: Spanish broadcaster Quiero launched its interactive television services in May 2000 and has achieved significant market penetration in Spain. Both ANT Fresco and the ANT SimplEmail email client are key components in the STBs that Quiero sources from its OEM suppliers (including Sagem and Interisa), enabling subscribers to use the Internet and email via their television sets, alongside the digital programming services.

LSI Logic reference platform for STBs: this software development platform for the SC2000 digital STB chip features ANT Fresco and illustrates the ease and speed with which OEMs can create a web-enabled STB with superior functionality and performance.

Bush Internet television and Bush STB: ANT Fresco is an integral component in a web access solution developed by Pace Micro Technology and supplied to Alba PLC for its Bush Internet television and STB products. The Internet television is a simple to use and intuitive product that brings the Internet to a mass market and sells in retail outlets throughout the UK.

IBM demonstration platform for STBs: this features ANT Fresco running on the IBM Olivia "system on a chip" demonstration platform, a purpose-built unit for STBs, with the VxWorks 5.4 operating system from Wind River Systems.

Partner demonstrations of ANT products at IBC will include:

Amino IntAct Reference Design: this STB reference design uses ANT Fresco and will be shown on Amino Communications' stand (5.324 - next to ANT's stand). The design enables Internet browsing alongside video-on-demand displayed through the browser, broadcast TV and other digital services.

At the show ANT will also announce how its technology enables access to customised pan-European satellite content for the first European digital entertainment system designed exclusively for hotels.
