GlobalSat Selects ANT Galio Platform for HbbTV

ANT, an established provider of software and services for the delivery of digital TV, today announced that GlobalSat, a leading Chinese manufacturer of satellite and terrestrial products has licensed its ANT Galio HbbTV Platform. GlobalSat has identified the fast growing HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV) market as a target for its next generation of connected STBs (Set-Top Boxes).
GlobalSat currently deploys a wide range of digital STB’s to satellite, terrestrial, cable and IPTV markets. Its devices are deployed across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, North Africa and Australia.
HbbTV is fast becoming the dominant standard for hybrid TV content in Europe. By 2014 it’s estimated there will be 60 million HbbTV compliant TV sets in Western Europe alone.
