Amino selects ANT Galio Platform for next-generation
Set-Top Box

13 March 2008

ANT (www.antplc.com), the provider of software and services for the delivery of digital TV, today announced that Amino, the world leading IPTV Set-Top Box (STB) supplier, has selected ANT Galio Platform for its HD H.264 Personal Video Recorder (PVR) AmiNET530 STB.

The AmiNET530 is a market leading IPTV PVR STB offering a high quality television experience, enabling the consumer to record multiple TV streams simultaneously and allowing time shifting, pause and play of live channels. Innovation can be appreciated in not only its compact and elegant elliptical design, but also its advanced technology supporting highly desirable applications such as HDTV, PVR, Video on Demand (VoD) and push VoD content.

The ANT Galio Platform will extend the capabilities of the AmiNET530, allowing it to support of a wider range of IPTV middlewares.

ANT and Amino have a long history of co-operation, having partnered together since 2003 to deliver ANT’s first generation IPTV platform, Fresco, on Amino STBs. ANT and Amino also both recently joined the Open IPTV Forum and are staunch supporters of open standards to enable content developers to create applications for IPTV quickly and easily. This partnership demonstrates their shared vision and also demonstrates Amino’s support of ANT’s Rich Media Access Interface (RMAI) standard which was launched in September 2007.

Richard Baker, Executive VP Sales and Marketing, said: “This agreement builds upon a strong existing relationship and a heritage of successful deployments across the world. Amino is the world leader in the IP STB market based on number of deployments and is well placed to take advantage of the growth in demand we’re both experiencing in IPTV.”

Roy Kirsopp VP & General Manager, Amino, adds: “It was important for us to work with a partner who could provide a robust and scalable platform for our AmiNET530 STB. PVR is an increasingly important feature for IPTV service providers and together ANT and Amino have the technology and the know-how to effectively support this requirement.”

Visitors to IPTV World Forum can visit ANT on stand 163 and Amino on stand 106.
