ANT Opens Up Possibilities for Standards-Based IPTV Applications and TV User Interfaces at TelcoTV 2005
Cambridge, England, 7 November 2005
ANT plc (AIM: ANTP), a leading provider of content control and user interface software for IPTV and consumer electronics, announced today that the company will attend TelcoTV 2005 Conference & Expo, 8-10 November at the San Diego Convention Center, where visitors to the ANT-sponsored pressroom and partner booths will see and hear the latest Telco TV applications and games running on the new ANT Galio Client Software Platform. ANT will demonstrate a full range of solutions for TV and consumer electronics devices and showcase the partnerships that are driving real solutions and deployments.
An always-on, standards-based software platform for television set-top boxes, Galio is the only way to deliver on the vision for a flexible, connected, media-rich TV experience. Galio opens up TV service and application creation to the widest development community in the world and allows skills, tools and existing content to be re-used efficiently and cost effectively.
"Consumers expect a rich multi-media experience from their TV." said Laura Buddine, CEO, Iacta (www.iacta.com). "The ANT client software architecture is extremely powerful and built on open standards, allowing us to develop our Games4TV and Iacta CAST portal service in a way that entertains and engages consumers. We can use our favourite tools to focus on what we deliver rather than how we do it. The ANT client software architecture is a best-of-breed platform for interactive TV deployments enabling the audio-visual experience that consumers expect from TV."
Visitors to the TelcoTV pressroom and to the Iacta booth (#118) will see the latest capabilities of ANT Galio, including demonstrations that highlight the importance of audio and animation within engaging interactive TV solutions. Both companies will showcase ANT Galio running the new Iacta CAST™ walled garden TV portal and games on Texas Instruments hardware. The Iacta CAST portal is a subscription-based portal to news, magazines and information.
"ANT is proud to be a sponsor of this year's TelcoTV and to have the opportunity to demonstrate these exciting advances in IPTV," said Stephen Reeder, executive director, sales and marketing at ANT. "The solutions we are showing this week are just a sample of the capabilities of the ANT Galio platform. We look forward to continuing our work with content and application developers to enable new opportunities for operator revenues and service differentiation."
ANT's Stephen Reeder will additionally participate in a TelcoTV panel discussion entitled Maximizing the Digital Set-Top Box. Scheduled for Thursday, 10 November from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., the panel will discuss advancements in set-top box technology and highlight the importance of the client software platform for operators.
