ANT appoints product manager to drive Fresco success

Andrew BovingdonANT Limited, the leading provider of user interface software for TV and consumer electronics, has appointed Andrew Bovingdon as product manager for its evolving range of embedded browser products, including Fresco and Fresco Lite.
 
In his new role, Bovingdon is responsible for identifying and developing new worldwide market opportunities for the Fresco product family. He will also drive product development to meet the changing needs of ANT's key markets, especially the rapidly growing TV over IP and cable-TV sectors.
 
Bovingdon joins ANT from Microsoft Research Ltd. where his position as marketing manager for research activities across Europe, the Middle East and Africa demanded a strategic view and close liaison with Microsoft Corporation centres around the world. Previously he worked at Santa Cruz Operation Inc. where he was instrumental in the development and management of the flagship Tarantella web-enabling product, which subsequently became a separate company.

ANT's Fresco browsers enable manufacturers of consumer electronics devices to quickly and simply develop standards-based user interfaces, and to incorporate digital content-rendering into their products. Already extensively deployed in the broadband TV market, Fresco is aimed at appliances such as set-top boxes, digital TVs and DVD players. The company's PurePlay digital media manager provides photo viewing, MP3 audio and video clip playing, slideshow and media management facilities – again designed for use in appliances commonly found in consumers’ living rooms, such as TVs, STBs, and DVD players.
