Extending the TV Experience

ANT Galio Move enables consumers to stream live and recorded TV direct to iOS and Android companion devices. Without disrupting the main TV viewing experience users can navigate the EPG, manage recordings and change channel all in a natural, rapid and intuitive touch screen user experience. ANT Galio Move is customised to match the brand of the device it controls.

Designed for use with tablets and smart phones, ANT Galio Move is a TV companion application that significantly extends the capability of the TV or STB. Seventy percent of tablet owners use their devices while watching TV, according to Q1 2011 data from The Nielsen Company. Today's smart phones and tablets are increasingly being used to complement and enhance the television viewing experience.

ANT Galio Move combines extended live TV viewing with market leading, companion device TV services. It responds directly to the growing demand by viewers for a 'TV everywhere' experience. Fully customisable to match the brand of the device it controls, it can be tailored to provide a consistent user experience across both the TV and companion devices such as the iPad.

ANT Galio Move supports the development of new business opportunities for STB and TV vendors with the prospect of application sales and advertising revenues. For broadcasters and operators it enables the delivery of additional valuable content direct to the companion device, signalled from a live broadcast stream.

FEATURES & FUNCTIONALITY

Live TV and Recorded Streaming

ANT Galio Move allows users to take the TV experience anywhere in the home by streaming live and recorded content directly from the TV device via Wi-Fi to their companion device. By using a scrub bar the consumer has the same level of control as a TV. It opens up a range of new viewing scenarios where consumers can use the companion device to watch the same live programme as the main TV, but in a different room, watch a separate live programme or view recorded content stored on the STB or TV hard drive¹.

Launch Screen

The Launch screen is the first screen that the user sees when the companion device is activated. ANT Galio Move immediately identifies what is being viewed on the main TV screen and presents a programme synopsis along with control functionality of the main TV with the use of a scrub bar. Pressing the 'watch here' button streams the current programme to the companion device simultaneously. From here the user can record the current programme to the set-top box or TV hard drive. A scrollable list of all programmes that are currently showing on all other channels is visible with additional information available at the touch of a button.

Off-Screen EPG

The user can view and navigate the EPG on the companion device without disrupting the main screen TV experience. The EPG can be personalised to show only a 'favourites' view or sorted by genre and includes detailed programme information. The user is able to skip forward by up to 7 days or to scroll to a desired time and date. From here the user can change channel on the main TV, set a recording or stream a live broadcast channel direct to the companion device using the 'watch here' button.

PVR Management

ANT Galio Move enables the user to manage recordings on the STB, without disrupting the main TV screen experience. They can also stream recorded content straight to the companion device with full trick play capabilities. Additional recoding information is also available along with hard drive usage on the set-top box or TV.
