ANT Galio Core Applications

The ANT Galio™ Suite includes a number of core TV applications providing the device manufacturer or service provider with a comprehensive set of functions and services for TV devices.

Standards-based, using W3C technologies, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, ANT Galio Core Applications offer the device manufacturer flexibility and rich functionality, supported by the widely deployed, native code based, ANT Galio Platform. ANT Galio Core Applications can be easily customised, adapting the user interface to match existing service branding or by changing configurations to integrate with existing systems, or in combination with existing applications, if required.

ANT Core Applications

Zapper/ Channel Banner

The zapper application provides the basic functionality required to change channels and display information about programmes on the current channel.

• Lists available channels from all sources, incorporating IPTV and DVB channels in a single list

• Provides channel navigation and detailed information. User can sort and filter the channel list by favourites, genre or by operator ‘bouquet’

• Channel banner enables browse programme information for other channels from the current channel

• Supports parental control, blocking restricted material according to user settings

Electronic Programme Guide (EPG)

The EPG provides a detailed guide to broadcast content, as a full-screen application that lists channels and programme schedules. The user can navigate around this display using the arrow keys.

• Choice of EPG formats and styles (translucent, opaque with scaled TV window, grid- or newspaper-style layout).

• Display all channels or only Favourites

• Schedule recordings and set reminders with on-screen indication in EPG

• Search for programmes with keyword search facility

Personal Video Recorder (PVR)

The PVR Application enables a user to schedule, manage and play recordings.

• Schedule recordings either directly from the EPG or manually

• Enables quick review of content with trick play – fast forward or rewind, pause or slow play

• Conflict manager alerts user to scheduling or resource conflicts and creates free space by deleting recordings where necessary

• View a detailed description of a recording

• Provides ability to automatically record all episodes of a series, or linked programmes

Main Menu/Settings Menu/Parental Control

The main menu provides the user with access to available services on the device. This list can be customised by the service provider at the time of deployment, or when new services are deployed.

• Set configurations for user interface language, subtitles, output options, favourites, restricted channels and define device start up options.

• Set parental control behaviour based on a range of options

• Choose alternative user interface themes and multiple screen resolutions

Video on Demand

The Video on Demand (VOD) application enables the user to browse VOD catalogues, purchase, preview, or play items. This application requires an element of configuration and integration effort, dependant on the operator’s solution.

• Browse multiple VOD catalogues through nested menus

• Search for items with keyword search facility

• Browse list of active rentals or previous purchases

• Cancel scheduled purchases

• Supports a variety of common VOD models

• Independent of VOD catalogue

ANT Galio Managed Services Portal

The ANT Galio Managed Services Portal is a fully integrated application providing access to a hosted TV Portal delivering a wide selection of VOD content, catch-up TV, games and web services directly to the user’s TV Device.

• Access to a variety of on-demand content and web applications (see separate datasheet for details)

• Download manager – enables a user to schedule, list and manage download content for video on demand playback across an unmanaged network where bandwidth is limited.

ANT Galio Applications Availability

ANT Galio Applications are available for use in all TV environments, where they can provide the complete set of TV device functionality or alongside existing applications where they can provide support for specific functions, such as download management or additional support for a portal or walled garden. Applications are available in a range or pre-defined applications bundles, with options, or licencees can define their own set of applications according to their needs.
