ANT Galio™ Client provides an advanced control and management framework for media devices making the ANT Galio Suite the first choice when deploying today’s visually rich and highly interactive multimedia services, whatever the application or TV environment.

By simplifying access to all types of media resources, ANT Galio Client enables Operators and Service Providers to deploy new applications or services rapidly, safe in the knowledge that they will work on any device using the ANT Galio framework.

ANT Galio Suite Modular Architecture

ANT Galio Client and Browser are fundamental elements of the ANT Galio Suite, a complete software suite enabling Network Operators, content developers and STB manufacturers to provide rich and dynamic multimedia services across a range of devices and a variety of media resources. Employing open, standardised interfaces and optimised native code, ANT Galio Client ensures that services can be developed rapidly and deployed with a consistent look and feel regardless of the device or the TV environment, either IPTV or hybrid.

ANT Galio Client Framework

The ANT Galio Client is at the heart of the Galio Suite providing the control behind the applications and services to deliver dynamic multimedia experience across multiple devices. It improves performance and efficiency of essential system services for a digital TV or home media platform, by moving the majority of data processing from Javascript into native code. As a result, Javascript is used to set the policies for specific tasks rather than being used to build the implementation, thereby significantly reducing the amount of code needed.

Media Device Control & Management

The ANT Galio Client provides a media device with control and management for IPTV, DVB, VOD or PVR functions, enabling applications to use standard functions regardless of the source of the data, the type of hardware, or even which ANT Galio enabled device in a network contains the resource, enabling the application designer to focus on the user-experience rather than the technology involved, and the user to enjoy the media and television services available to them.

All applications and services are developed using recognised web languages such as HTML, CSS and Javascript to implement the user interface. The ANT Galio Client implements the Javascript APIs presented by the Rich Media Access Interface and communicates with the hardware via ANT’s Media Device API.

Rich Media Application Interface (RMAI)

The RMAI, an open, modular API designed to reduce application complexity, provides an interface using high-level TV concepts to deliver media services, whilst exploiting the power and flexibility of Web standards. RMAI provides the link between the high level elements of the User Interface and the performance optimised native code of the ANT Galio Client. Optional modules include additional support for VOD and PVR solutions, across DVB, HbbTV or OIPF environments, as well as download and management of applications (APE).

Porting Environment

The Media Device API (MDA) and ANT Portability Environment provide an interface between the ANT Galio Client and the underlying platform. Together they offer a pluggable driver model allowing features to be added without requiring changes in the ANT Galio Client libraries. This offers a practical and costeffective solution for rapidly porting and optimising the ANT Galio Suite across multiple platforms and environments.
